GED Lesson Idea: Online GED Practice

Description

Your student can practice doing the GED test on the Internet.

Materials

GED practice tests are available online through the following links. Your student may wish to access these sites at home, at our learning centers, or at the closest King County library (some branches limit computer use to 1 hour).

Suggestions

Always familiarize yourself with the web site and how it works before sitting down to demonstrate it to your student. For further online preparation see our list of other GED links.

  • Steck-Vaughn
    • Your student must register and provide a telephone number and email to use these practice tests.
    • There are online directions and use is fairly straightforward.
  • Learning Express Library - Access through King County Library System web site.
    • Help your student apply for a library card if necessary, available to King County residents only. You can apply online.
    • After entering the library card number, the student must register as a new user, or sign-in as a returning user to use the practice tests.
    • When you have successfully signed in, you are asked to Choose a Subject. Scroll down to find the "GED Preparation" link.
  • GED Connection - Access through PBS Literacy Link
    • From the home page, click on "Begin" to register for the first time and choose a user name and password.
    • Once you have a user name you can log in. Navigate to "GED Connection" and choose an activity.
    • Your student can choose to work independently through these modules, or with a teacher. You can register yourself as a teacher in order to review your students work online. See a literacy coordinator to help set this up.
    • There is a set of videos to accompany this program. You will find it in the reference section of our library.
