Workplace Lesson Idea: Asking for Help and Giving Help

Description

Your students need to ask for help or give help to their co-workers or supervisor. By the end of the lesson, your students will be able to ask or give help.

Materials
Suggestions
  • Warm-up: Use the handout Giving a Hand. Talk about how you ask or give help at work. Write the words that the students generate on the board.
  • Use the handout People Helping. Use these pictures to elicit conversations between the supervisors, co-workers and customers. Write these conversations on the board. Use these conversations for students to practice in pairs.
  • Ask students about different situations when people ask or give help at work. Who usually asks for or gives help? What do they say? How do your students respond? Write these words and phrases on the board. In pairs, practice the dialogues.
